Tips for Printing Green
Printing green is good for business, but it also means thinking about it every step of the way to ensure a high quality product. Here are some tips to simplify green printing.
-
Think green when you’re designing. Some of the biggest culprits in recycling are adhesives, laminates, plastic windows, etc. Most laminated products are treated as plastics, for example, and must be landfilled.
-
Work only with certified “green printers.” Be wary of “green washing.” Make sure that you work only with printers who don’t just claim to be green but are, in fact, certified by a local agency whose job it is to protect the environment. You’ll also want to make sure that they are certified by the FSC, an international organization with rigorous standards.
-
Be open to environmentally-friendly suggestions. It’s hard to keep up with the alternatives available today, so consult with your printer during design and again prior to printing regarding eco-friendly options that might now be available.
