Rack Cards – don’t let your get lost in the stack

There are several things you should keep in mind when printing a rack card that will optimize the effectiveness.

Standard size rack cards are designed to fit into a specific slot …generally speaking. If you plan on sending rack cards to visitor centers, convention centers or any other center which displays rack cards in a conventional manner, you’ll want to ensure that your card will fit.

In addition to the size of your rack card, you’ll need to consider what portion of the card readers will see when it is neatly tucked in the card holder.

Make sure that your business name and the type of service or product you offer is clearly presented near the top of the rack card. Otherwise it will be concealed and no one will bother to select your card.

You should also make sure that your business and service information is clearly labeled on the back side of your rack card, along the top. Why? If your card is reviewed then slid back into the holder backwards, your information will no longer be visible.

Let’s say your rack card has successfully snared an audience, how can you inspire them to take action and send business your way?

Invite them to take action.

It is important to suggest actions to take – lead your reader – but you must also build value for them in taking these actions.

Adding coupons and promotions codes are excellent. Create time limited offers, but keep in mind that printing time limited offers on your rack cards will render them out of date once that time has expired. Be mindful of this when deciding the quantity to print.

Printing rack cards which offer discounts to first time customers or a “gift” of some sort, is economical. The advantage of an offer like this is that your rack card can remain in circulation indefinitely.

Now that you’ve sparked the interest of your audience, deliver information about your service or product in a simple and easy to read format. Do not cram paragraphs of information onto your card.

Using bullet points to list the advantages of your service will quickly pull your reader in. Give them the information they need quick. You have only seconds before the slip your rack card back and select another.

Now that your reader is seriously considering sending business your way, show them a few testimonials from other happy customers. Instill confidence.

Your beautifully designed and printed rack card has successfully inspired your reader to give you a call. Make sure that all of the possible ways to reach you are clearly listed on the card. Do not make them hunt for it. The information should practically jump off your card.

This type of frustration will lead to them chucking your rack card.

Don’t forget to add the recycled logo to your eco-friendly rack card. If you print with a certified green printer, you’ll want to let your reader know. Printing responsibly makes a difference in how you are perceived.

If you are eco-friendly, let your readers know.
